Keychain Errors

If browsers displays a Keychain error, your Mac's login keychain may be missing or not configured correctly. Follow the steps below to create a new login keychain and set it as your default keychain.

  1. Top right, click the magnifying glass and search Terminal

  2. In the commands below, replace:

    {password}

    with the password you use to log into your Mac.

    For example, if your Mac password were ExamplePassword123, you would replace {password} with ExamplePassword123.

  3. Copy the commands below into Terminal after replacing both {password} entries with your Mac password:

    security create-keychain -p "{password}" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
    security default-keychain -s ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
    security list-keychains -d user -s ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
    security unlock-keychain -p "{password}" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
    security set-keychain-settings ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db

Example: If your password were ExamplePassword123!, the commands would look like:

security create-keychain -p "ExamplePassword123!" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
security default-keychain -s ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
security list-keychains -d user -s ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
security unlock-keychain -p "ExamplePassword123!" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
security set-keychain-settings ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
